Basketball Game Preview: Veritas Prep Falcons vs. Horizon Honors Eagles

Veritas Prep hasn't had much luck against Horizon Honors recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Veritas Prep Falcons challenge the Horizon Honors Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Veritas Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Veritas Prep came up into this matchup off a tough 31-point defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of ALA - Anthem South by a score of 43-41 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since February 16, 2024.

Despite their defeat, Veritas Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Baylor Arnold, who posted 11 points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson O'Malley, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Veritas Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Horizon Honors suffered their biggest loss since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against San Carlos, falling 63-37. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Veritas Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Horizon Honors, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Things could have been worse for Veritas Prep, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Horizon Honors when the teams last played back in December of 2021.
