Softball Recap: Chesapeake Panthers vs. Gallia Academy Blue Devils
Chesapeake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to the Gallia Academy Blue Devils. Chesapeake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gallia Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April.
HANNAH WEBB spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, RACHAEL BISHOP made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of RILEY ISSACS, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
Even though they lost, Chesapeake didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.
Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Gallia Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
