Recap: Impact Christian Academy Lions vs. First Coast Buccaneers
The Impact Christian Academy Lions entered their tilt with the First Coast Buccaneers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Impact Christian Academy pulled ahead with a 41-40 photo finish over First Coast.
Impact Christian Academy was led to victory by Cazaria Britt and Lavin Savage. Britt scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four steals, while Savage scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The match was Savage's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kimora Sheffield, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Despite the defeat, First Coast saw an underclassman step up: Sha'niah Bennett dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Aray Bell was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, First Coast were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Impact Christian Academy only pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Impact Christian Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for First Coast, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Impact Christian Academy and Temple Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Temple Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. First Coast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on KIPP Bold City at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. KIPP Bold City is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
