Preview: Gaithersburg Trojans vs. Walter Johnson Wildcats
Gaithersburg is on a two-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Walter Johnson a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Gaithersburg Trojans will take on the Walter Johnson Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Gaithersburg, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-43 loss to Richard Montgomery. Gaithersburg has struggled against Richard Montgomery recently, as their matchup on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Walter Johnson ended up a good deal behind Damascus on Monday and lost 55-38.
Naamiah Corke put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Youssef, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Gaithersburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Walter Johnson, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Gaithersburg was dealt a bruising 67-37 loss at the hands of Walter Johnson in their previous matchup back in January.
