Softball Recap: Benson's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Benson had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-16 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Bisbee Pumas by a score of 18-13. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Pumas back in February, they had to take a 16-9 defeat.

Alyana Bosley and Karris Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Bosley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Taylor went 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Bosley a new career-high. Abigail Lutz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

As for Bisbee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

On Bisbee's side, they got a massive performance out of Franki Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xenia Ballesteros, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Benson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bisbee, they will take on San Miguel at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
