Football Recap: New Hampstead's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

New Hampstead came into Friday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Wayne County Yellow Jackets 34-13 on Friday. The Phoenix's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Eric Hockman had a dynamite game, throwing for 302 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of TDs on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (133.8). A healthy portion of Hockman's aerial production (138 yards to be exact) went to Mekhi Lynn, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

New Hampstead's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Wayne County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

New Hampstead and Wayne County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Phoenix will take on Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 28). Meanwhile, Wayne County (ranked 274th) will meet Ware County (ranked 60th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
