Softball Recap: Oakfield Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oakfield walked away with it. They came out on top against the Horicon Marshmen on Tuesday by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Oaks, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lainey Schepp and Reese Ramminger made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Schepp pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ramminger tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schepp has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 18 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Schepp went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Ramminger went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Olyvia Vielbig was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Marcoe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Oakfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Oakfield's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Horicon, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oakfield beat the Marshmen by a score of 11-1 later that day.
