Basketball Recap: Newfield Starts off Right with Win over Johnson City

Newfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past the Johnson City Wildcats with a 72-68 win on Friday. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 70-53 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Johnson City's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.

Newfield will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tioga at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Johnson City has already played their next match, a 54-40 victory against Athens on the 14th.
