Football Game Preview: Southridge Suns vs. Chiawana Riverhawks + How To Watch

Southridge is 0-9 against Chiawana since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Suns will be playing at home against the Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Southridge really took it to Walla Walla for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-21 victory. The win continues a trend for the Suns in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Gabe Borisch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 117.2 rushing yards per game. Coppin Hunkapillar was another key player, throwing for 79 yards and two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 359 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Southridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Stockton Parrish, Koven Burke, Chase Ferguson, and DeMario Cruz picked up one apiece. Parrish also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13. Southridge got some further help from Azonam Osokou: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.

Meanwhile, Chiawana beat Hanford 18-6 on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Riverhawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Falcons are ranked 102nd).

Chiawana's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Southridge, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
