Baseball Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness Villains vs. Caldwell Academy Eagles

The Bishop McGuinness Villains are taking a road trip to challenge the Caldwell Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop McGuinness knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Caldwell Academy likes a good challenge.

Bishop McGuinness' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Millennium. The Villains haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Caldwell Academy came up short against High Point Christian Academy on Tuesday, falling 14-4. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caldwell Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer McBurney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Caldwell Academy is 4-2 when McBurney posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

Caldwell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bishop McGuinness, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Bishop McGuinness skirted past Caldwell Academy 6-5 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop McGuinness since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
