Baseball Recap: Jumpertown Takes a Loss

If Jumpertown was feeling good fresh off their 17-4 takedown of Byers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jumpertown lost 15-5 to the Wheeler Eagles on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Jumpertown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kingston Orchard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Hunter Lewellen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Jumpertown's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Wheeler, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Jumpertown Cardinals challenge Pine Grove Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheeler, they will take on Tupelo Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler's pitchers better be ready for this one: Tupelo Christian Prep has averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
