Baseball Recap: Bloomsburg Panthers vs. Hughesville Spartans
Bloomsburg extended their losing streak to 15 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hughesville Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on April 11th.
Shane Frey and Brayden Holbert stepped up to the plate in a big way. Frey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Holbert went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Hughesville, their record is now 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Bloomsburg since April 20, 2021.
On Hughesville's side, the team relied heavily on Dylan McConnell, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases McConnell has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Babb, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The Panthers will take on Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (598 vs. 33). Meanwhile, Hughesville (ranked 266th) will meet Athens (ranked 121st) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
