The American Collegiate Academy Rough Riders will head out on the road to face off against the Oasis Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
American Collegiate Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season. They breezed by Tournament Opponent at home to the tune of 62-33.
It was another big night for Townsend, who scored 29 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Trent Cooper was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Oasis Christian at home against Winter Haven Christian on Friday as the team secured a 63-28 win. Given Oasis Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Winter Haven Christian is ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jesse Howell was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gall, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
American Collegiate Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Oasis Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: American Collegiate Academy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Oasis Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 5.8 per game. Given American Collegiate Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Oasis Christian will need to find a way to close that gap. American Collegiate Academy strolled past Oasis Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 46-32. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Oasis Christian's Elijah Schick, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
