Soccer Recap: San Mateo Comes Up Short

San Mateo lost against Hillsdale back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The San Mateo Bearcats came up short against the Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1015th, while the FIGHTING KNIGHTS are ranked 181st).

San Mateo's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hillsdale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-1-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the San Mateo take on the Woodside at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Mateo's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for Hillsdale, they will challenge Half Moon Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillsdale's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Half Moon Bay's offense will have their work cut out for them.
