Football Recap: Manchester Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Manchester unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 30-6 to the West Haven Blue Devils on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Red Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 13th).

Several Red Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samuel Mojica, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD. Prince Owusu also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.

Manchester didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-12 loss against Platt on the 18th. As for West Haven, they have also already played their next game, a 21-10 victory against Shelton on the 19th.
