Volleyball Recap: Van Buren Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Siloam Springs

Van Buren faced Siloam Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Pointers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. While the Pointers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-21 in the first set.

Van Buren started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 22-25, 25-10, 28-26, 15-7.

Aubrie McGhee paced Van Buren's offense, picking up 15 kills. McGhee got some help from Matilyn Dunn and her 18 assists. Isabella Peters controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Yanah Lee, who had 15 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last three matchups.

Van Buren's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7-1. As for Siloam Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Van Buren will host Russellville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pointers are facing the Cyclones at the right time seeing as the Cyclones are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Siloam Springs, they will be playing at home against Alma at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
