Baseball Recap: Richland Triumphs

Richland's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Benton Academy Raiders 7-6.

Christopher Bobbitt was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Richland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Bryce Shows was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Richland's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Benton Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richland will head out to take on McComb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McComb is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Benton Academy, they will take on Briarfield Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
