Baseball Game Preview: Barstow Aztecs vs. Silverado Hawks

For the second straight game, Barstow will face off against Silverado. The Aztecs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Hawks at 3:15 p.m. Barstow will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Barstow barely beat Silverado the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aztecs put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 13-3 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Aztecs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Trevor Shenk made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Barstow is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Shenk was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, J'Dyn Brown was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ty Sikora - Ross, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Barstow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Silverado has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Barstow, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
