Basketball Game Preview: Piper Bengals vs. Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes

The Piper Bengals will head out to take on the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Piper has five straight victories, Pompano Beach has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, Piper humbled Coconut Creek with a 60-29 victory. Fans of the Bengals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Piper got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Janiya Joassin out in front who posted 17 points. Joassin's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Aysia Sears, who earned 13 points.

Meanwhile, Pompano Beach played a tough matchup back in November in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Coral Springs 72-11. The Golden Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-6.

Pompano Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Piper, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Piper against Pompano Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
