Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Blue Devils vs. Boys Town Cowboys

The Wayne Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Boys Town Cowboys on Saturday. Wayne will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Wayne is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Laurel-Concord-Coleridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wayne blew Laurel-Concord-Coleridge out of the water with a 53-26 final score. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Bears are ranked 203rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jace Jorgensen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Colson Nelsen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Boys Town unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 51-39 to Mount Michael Benedictine. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wayne's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Boys Town, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Wayne against Boys Town when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 70-42 victory. In that matchup, Wayne amassed a halftime lead of 42-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
