Volleyball Game Preview: Marian Crusaders vs. Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks

The Marian Crusaders will face off against the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Marian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Waverly, who was ranked fifth at the time (Marian was ranked 15th). The Crusaders fell 2-0 to the Vikings on Saturday. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Southwest entered their match against Millard West on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Silver Hawks fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2.

Lincoln Southwest might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Millard West: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 21-19.

Marian will have to keep a close watch on Taryn Weigel and Jadyn Hazzard, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lincoln Southwest's prior game. Weigel had 32 digs and four assists, while Hazzard had 16 digs and four assists. Weigel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Reagan Becker also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Lincoln Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Marian, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.
