Basketball Game Preview: Agua Fria Owls vs. Cactus Cobras

Agua Fria is 0-4 against Cactus since January of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Agua Fria Owls will face off against the Cactus Cobras at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Agua Fria is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 84 points back in December of 2024, they were much more limited against Cactus Shadows back in December of 2024. They were dealt a 64-30 defeat at the hands of the Falcons. The match marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Micah Mccalla, who posted nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Cactus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 54-48 to Paradise Valley. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Trojans are ranked 88th).

Agua Fria will have to contain Xavier Ledet as he made an impact in Cactus' last game. He went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Thiesse, who had five points and five rebounds.

Agua Fria's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Cactus, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Agua Fria might still be hurting after the 72-52 loss they got from Cactus in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Agua Fria, Bradey Henige (who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 20 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
