NorthWood is 0-7 against Fairfield since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The NorthWood Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Fairfield Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
NorthWood gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They never let Tippecanoe Valley onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
Adriana Beachy was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Beachy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI.
Beachy wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalia Vega, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Fairfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northridge on Monday. Fairfield blew past Northridge 11-5.
Like NorthWood, Fairfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Faith Berkey. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Berkey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Madison Jones was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jayslynn Hall was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
