Orthopaedic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt USC-MAE on Monday. The Vipers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Vipers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Brianna Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
In other batting news, Elizabeth Ajin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Melanie Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The win (which was Orthopaedic's third in a row) raised their record to 12-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for USC-MAE, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
