Baseball Recap: Avon Grove Red Devils vs. Coatesville Red Raiders
After flying high against Kennett on Tuesday, Avon Grove came back down to earth. The Red Devils took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coatesville Red Raiders on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in March.
Avon Grove handed starting duties to Ryan Fuller, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Avon Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Nole, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Avon Grove's record is now 6-11. As for Coatesville, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
