Northwest Central recap October 22, 2013
Lehman Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Northwest Central this week by beating Ridgemont, 61-6. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Perry was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Commodores defeated Jefferson Township 25-20.
Nick Rourke threw for 262 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 15-21 with 0 interceptions.
Plummie Gardner provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Perry topped the Broncos. He completed 15 passes for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 61 yards. Gardner's favorite target this week was Caiden Dicke, who caught 3 passes for 79 yards.
Tanner Lane was a force in the backfield as Riverside topped Waynesfield-Goshen.
Rourke put up the best numbers in passing as Lehman Catholic bested the Golden Gophers. Rourke's favorite target this week was Mitch Slater, who caught 6 passes for 121 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Richard Roll's team's Rourke and Andrew Westerheide have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Rourke has thrown for 1,957 yards this season, while Westerheide has 36 catches for 627 yards. Fort Loramie's Delaunte Thornton leads the league in rushing yards with 1,371.
Connor Cotterman of the the Pirates is just 94 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 156 carries Cotterman has accumulated 906 yard this year.
The Cavaliers' Rourke is within 43 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against the Tigers.
A big matchup in Northwest Central this week will be when Jesse Kill's team takes on the Redskins. The Commodores are currently in fifth, while Fort Loramie is in second.
Ridgemont fell to Lehman Catholic 61-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chris Weyent threw for 38 yards, ran for 19 yards and caught 2 passes for 92 yards in the defeat.
