Vestal came tearing into  Friday's  game with five straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Johnson City Wildcats  a   14-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season,  with their most recent  victory being a  21-0  win  on Wednesday.
 Ben Tanton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   keeping things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news, Vestal got a  massive  performance out of  Henry Lay, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double.  Canyon Kalina also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
 Vestal  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an  OBP of .510 or higher in six consecutive  matches.
Vestal pushed their record up to 8-2 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  on the road. Those  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Johnson City,  they are  on  an  eight-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
