Softball Preview: Kountze Lions vs. Danbury Panthers
The Kountze Lions will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Danbury Panthers. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kountze is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Diboll 13-1.
McKinley Rowinsky made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Rowinsky was even better at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Kunk, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Coldspring-Oakhurst typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Danbury proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 17-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Danbury.
Kountze pushed their record up to 32-5 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road. As for Danbury, their victory bumped their record up to 19-13-1.
