Baseball Recap: Norton Triumphs

Norton won against Medfield on Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Lancers walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Medway Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in April, they had to take a 11-3 defeat.

Dylan Ingersoll tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Norton is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Jack Regan was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Norton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Ben Price was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Norton and bumps their season record up to 7-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Medway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Norton will challenge Bellingham at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackhawks have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Medway, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Uxbridge at 3:45 p.m.
