Basketball Recap: West Grand Continues Home Dominance on Friday

West Grand extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Sara Lechman. The West Grand Mustangs really took it to the Vail Christian Saints for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-17 victory thanks in part to Lechman, who went 10 of 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Makaila Gifford, who posted 11 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season.

West Grand pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Vail Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

West Grand didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 25-24 victory against Plateau Valley on the 18th. As for Vail Christian, they will host Soroco at 2:00 p.m. on January 25th.
