Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is University Lab's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ascension Catholic, University Lab was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 20-16 win over the Livonia Wildcats. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cubs considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Hallie Shearer was a standout: she scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Pike, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double.

Shearer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: University Lab kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

University Lab has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. Livonia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

University Lab will venture away from home to face off against Holden at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. University Lab has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Livonia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
