Soccer Game Preview: Colonial vs. East River

The Colonial Grenadiers will head out on the road to take on the East River Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Colonial's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Colonial turned things around against Wekiva on Wednesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Colonial who was credited with the victory. Colonial got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Wekiva's two. Margot Wallace had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Grenadiers.

Monday just wasn't the day for East River's offense. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Innovation an easy 6-0 win. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Bulls are ranked 80th).

Colonial's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for East River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-2 record this season.

Colonial suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to East River when the teams last played back in January. Can Colonial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
