Softball Recap: Harmony Has No Trouble Against Bishop Moore

Harmony lost to Bishop Moore back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 14-5 victory. Considering the Longhorns have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

McKenzie Whitehouse and Lindsay Green were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Whitehouse tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Green tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Whitehouse has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Whitehouse scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Green went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those four hits gave Green a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emerson Aslan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Hailey Baker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Harmony and bumps their season record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Bishop Moore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Harmony will take on Melbourne Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hustlers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bishop Moore, they will face off against Davenport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
