Baseball Game Preview: Van Buren Bulldogs vs. South Iron Panthers

The Van Buren Bulldogs will take on the South Iron Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Van Buren 3, South Iron 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Van Buren barely beat Neelyville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Tigers 16-5 on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, South Iron's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of East Carter by a score of 6-5.

Van Buren has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Iron, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4-1.

Everything went Van Buren's way against South Iron in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Van Buren made off with a 15-5 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
