Softball Recap: Bloomfield Comes Up Short

Bloomfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-3 to the West Orange Mountaineers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bengals of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Casey Lardner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bloomfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Caylor, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bloomfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for West Orange, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will welcome Union City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Orange, they will host Hoboken at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
