Recap: American Eagles vs. Lincoln Lions
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the American Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They secured a 84-80 W over Lincoln. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
American's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Bucko, who scored 28 points along with 6 steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan JaWei Lee, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Loss or not, Lincoln got some senior leadership from Caleb Hooks who scored 30 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and Mussie Yimer who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Hooks scored a full 37.5% of Lincoln's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyan Phillips, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
American's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
American will face off against Independence at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against San Jose at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
