Volleyball Recap: Covenant Day Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Covenant Day was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Carmel Christian on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions came up short against the Gaston Day Spartans on Friday, falling 3-0. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in August of 2022.

While Covenant Day ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-17.

Olivia Huneycutt paced Covenant Day's offense, picking up 11 kills. Huneycutt got some help from Maggie Shannon and her ten assists.

Covenant Day's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Covenant Day will square off against Westminster Catawba Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gaston Day has already played their next match (against Lee Park Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
