Basketball Recap: Vincennes Rivet Find Success

On Saturday, the Vincennes Rivet Patriots didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Monrovia Bulldogs, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win.

Despite the loss, Monrovia still got an impressive performance from Emery Newlin, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Newlin has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Deaton, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Vincennes Rivet has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Monrovia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vincennes Rivet will face off against Shoals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vincennes Rivet is facing Shoals at the right time seeing as Shoals is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Monrovia, they will host Purdue Poly Englewood at 12:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Monrovia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
