Softball Game Preview: Julian Eagles vs. Calipatria Hornets

Julian hasn't had much luck against Calipatria recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 3:00 p.m. Julian has given up an average of 17.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Julian didn't have quite enough to beat Warner and fell 12-11. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Avalina Magante-Ortiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Alison Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, Calipatria was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against Palo Verde Valley, falling 17-1.

Julian's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Calipatria, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Julian might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Calipatria when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
