Baseball Recap: Saugus Beats Canyon for Their Third Straight Victory

Saugus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Canyon Cowboys as they made off with an 18-0 win. Considering the Centurions have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Daniel Harris looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Matthew Carta and Lincoln Fritz did most of the damage at the plate: Carta went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Fritz scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave Carta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Frias, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Saugus' record is now 9-2. As for Canyon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
