Baseball Recap: Moapa Valley's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Cedar on Tuesday, Moapa Valley came back down to earth. The Moapa Valley Pirates fell just short of the Boulder City Eagles by a score of 9-8 on Wednesday. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

Lucas Pettingill was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Moapa Valley's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Boulder City, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moapa Valley will take on Bonneville at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Moapa Valley's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Bonneville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Boulder City, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Spring Valley at 10:00 a.m. Boulder City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
