Basketball Recap: St. James Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Maranatha Christian Academy last Thursday, St. James Academy came back down to earth. The St. James Academy Thunder took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Valley North Mustangs on Friday. The Thunder haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why St. James Academy lost, don't look at Noah Hornback. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hornback a new career-high in steals. Francis Menghini was another key player, putting up five points.

St. James Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Blue Valley North, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

While St. James Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
