Preview: Bellville Brahmas vs. Silsbee Tigers
Bellville is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Silsbee is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Bellville Brahmas will take on the Silsbee Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bellville had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to Madisonville for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-0 victory on the road. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 12 points.
It was another big night for DD Murray, who rushed for 167 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Murray has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Sam Hranicky was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything went Silsbee's way against Gatesville on Friday as Silsbee made off with a 35-10 win. 35 seems to be a good number for Silsbee as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silsbee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Moshier, who threw for 402 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Ashton Cartwright, who picked up 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Bellville to 12-0 and Madisonville to 9-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bellville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 410.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Silsbee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
