The Goleman Gators will take on the Somerset Academy Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Goleman turned things around against Downtown Doral on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dolphins a 9-0 shutout.
Khari Hunter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Goleman got a big performance out of Ethan Cabrera, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, Cabrera posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Daikel Nodal was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Gulliver Prep on Friday, taking the game 8-5. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.
Somerset Academy also got a great performance from Liam DeCicco as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. DeCicco also tossed a walk, which is notable because Somerset Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Jon Mora was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Somerset Academy is 4-1 when Mora posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Matthew Fari?as, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Somerset Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Goleman's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Somerset Academy, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Goleman suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Somerset Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Goleman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
