Softball Game Preview: Auburn Trojans vs. Beecher Bobcats

The Auburn Trojans will take on the Beecher Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Auburn comes in on four and Beecher on seven.

Auburn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Tolono Unity get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

The result came thanks to Meena Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Auburn's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Beecher sidestepped Brimfield for a 4-3 win. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by just one run.

Ava Lorenzatti was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Lorenzatti was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Beecher's victory bumped their record up to 35-2. As for Auburn, their win bumped their record up to 24-5.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Auburn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Beecher struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
