Effingham County won the last time they faced Savannah Country Day and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hornets 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

Effingham County had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-10, 15-13.

Ka'Meil Bates paced Effingham County's offense, picking up nine kills. Bates got some help from Charlotte Shearouse and her 11 assists. Shearouse also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Bella Giaquinto, racking up two apiece.

Effingham County's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Savannah Country Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Coincidentally, Effingham County and Savannah Country Day will both be playing Southeast Bulloch the next time they take the court. The Hornets will head out to face the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rebels will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
