Sturgis West was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Nantucket Whalers. Another player making a difference was Mariana Silva (C), who had 13 digs and seven aces.
Sturgis West's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Nantucket, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Sturgis West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Rising Tide on the 24th. As for Nantucket, they will face off against Abington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
