Softball Game Preview: Borrego Springs Rams vs. Calipatria Hornets

The Borrego Springs Rams will head out to take on the Calipatria Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Borrego Springs lost 16-6 to Bonsall last Wednesday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Legionnaires recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lylamae Gutierrez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Gutierrez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Anavey Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Calipatria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Holtville, falling 20-4.

Borrego Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Calipatria, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Borrego Springs beat Calipatria 21-18 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
