Preview: Benedictine Bengals vs. Jefferson Area Falcons
After two games on the road, Benedictine is heading back home. They will take on the Jefferson Area Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Sunday, Benedictine strolled past John Marshall with points to spare, taking the game 61-46. With that victory, Benedictine brought their scoring average up to 54.5 points per game.
Benedictine can attribute much of their success to Kris Smith, who scored 19 points, and John Horn, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Benedictine's points. Another player making a difference was Mek Black, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 36-36 at halftime, Jefferson Area was not quite Pymatuning Valley's equal in the second half on Friday. Jefferson Area was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Pymatuning Valley.
The victory got Benedictine back to even at 1-1. As for Jefferson Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
