Baseball Recap: Norfolk Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Norfolk ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Lincoln Northeast Rockets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Ethan Synovec made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Norfolk is 2-1 when Synovec allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Synovec was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Synovec wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Magnussen, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Norfolk's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12. As for Lincoln Northeast, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Norfolk will host Omaha Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will head out to face off against Buena Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets are facing the Bison at the right time seeing as the Bison are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
